Risk of Rain 2 has received the Skills 2.0 free content update for consoles that was made available for PC in September of this year.

Skills 2.0 is free, as said, and adds a new wealth of content for the almost four-month-old game.

Risk of Rain 2 is a 3D follow-up to the 2D rougelike hit that sees players moving from location to location after defeating a boss to unlock a teleporter at each location while collecting money to purchase items that all help with survival. The game has a unique difficulty system where as you play and survive the game gets harder, as noted by a handy timer and difficulty gauge.

The Skills 2.0 update includes a new character, a new level, and plenty of new items to help you survive as the game’s timer ticks up the difficulty.

The new map, Siren’s Call is a nautical-looking level with the aesthetic of being underwater, while still very exposed to the game’s titular rain.

As far as the new character, players can unlock the Loader, a melee focused character wearing an exosuit that deals all the damage.

For those interested, the trailer released by PlayStation gives more of a direct look, but only shows enough to hook you, not give it all away:

While there isn’t a mapped out content release plan for consoles, if you are interested in seeing what they will eventually get, Twinfinite covered the roadmap revealed for the game here.
