If the announcement of remastered versions of the iconic Disney-licensed games Aladdin and The Lion King back in August brought a smile to the faces of nostalgic fans, today’s newly revealed and extremely cool Retro Edition and Legacy Cartridge Editions for Nintendo Switch will have them ecstatic.
First, the Retro Edition Box, which includes an exclusive poster and retro style manual. The packaging also mimics either the Genesis or SNES Clamshell console, designed iam8bit.
The features specific to this edition include:
- Exclusive Poster: Limited Edition fold out poster featuring characters from both Aladdin and The Lion King.
- Retro Style Manual: Full-color instruction manuals featuring painstakingly restored artwork
- Retro Style Packaging: Custom designed 16-bit era packaging including a foam inlay
- Multiple Game Versions: Play through several different versions of the beloved Aladdin and The Lion King games that have been created over the years, including both console and handheld versions. An all-new “Final Cut” version of Aladdin, developed exclusively for this collection, is also included and features difficulty adjustments, camera refinements, bug fixes, as well as a few additional surprises for fans.
The Legacy Cartridge Collection Edition, meanwhile, offers a version of the game playable on original Genesis/Megadrive or SNES consoles, with cartridges coming in different colors.

Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King is due out for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on Oct. 29.
