Today Vanillaware and Atlus released a batch of screenshots, artwork, and details of the upcoming sci-fi game 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.
First of all, we get to see the mecha we’ll control during the game. There are four types, melee, all-purpose, long-range, and flight support.
There is a further distinction, which is by time between generations. Today we see three of them.
The first-generation Machine Soldiers are the melee types, numbered 10, 11, and 12.
They’re the oldest in service and they’re piloted by Nenji Ogata, Ei Sekigahara, and Takatoshi Hijiyama.
The third-generation Machine Soldiers are the long-range type, numbered 16, 17, and 19.
They can strike from far away and they’re piloted by Tomi Kisaragi, Natsuno Minami, and Keitarou Miura.
The fourth-generation Machine Soldiers are the flight support type, able to fly thanks to two huge rotors and designed to support other mecha.
There are four of them, No. 20, No. 21, No. 22, and No. 23, piloted respectively by Shuu Amiguchi, Yuki Takamiya, Renya Gouto, and Megumi Yakushiji.
The second topic of today’s reveal is the Kaiju we’ll fight.
The Worker is “just” 8 meters long. While small, they are a big threat to humans and they attack in hordes like soldier ants.
Jimora is a huge monster, towering at 35 meters tall. It specializes in close combat thanks to its thick armor and cannot be easily defeated by long-range artillery.
The Twin Tail is the opposite, specialized in long-range attacks with missiles and Gatling guns.
The Drum Mine is basically a suicide attacker that rolls towards the opponent and explodes.
The Apsos can deploy a fan-like shield to protect other kaiju. It’s important to destroy it before he does so.
The Hunter is a small (5 m) reconnaissance Kaiju that fly thanks to two rotors. They attack in swarms with a laser.
The Flying Drill is a 30 meters tall excavation-type Kaiju. It’s very durable and can attack from the air with guns and missiles.
The Terror Carrier is a flying carrier that can transport and unleash a large number of hunters. It’s heavily armored, making it impervious to light weapons like machine guns.
The MobileFac is a huge mobile factory monster that can salvage surrounding materials and produce kaiju on the fly thanks to its internal manufacturing facilities. If it’s not dealt with, it’ll continue doing so until its army becomes unstoppable.
Last, but certainly not least, the HighQuad is a heavy mechanic kaiju over 100 meters tall. It’s equipped with an extremely powerful plasma cannon and can melt instantly the thick armor of a Machine Soldier with a direct hit.
