The 2019 event kicks off with a new event feature, known as Weekly challenges. In these challenges, players will be able to unlock limited-time rewards every week for playing.

Amongst these items, there is a handful of rare cosmetic goodies:

  • 4 new Legendary skins
  • 3 new Epic skins
  • 1 highlight intro
  • 2 emotes
  • 3 victory poses
  • 9 new player icons
  • 2 new sprays

In order to get these cosmetics, players must earn 9 wins in either Quick Play, Competitive Play, or the Arcade. Completing these tasks automatically grants limited-time sprays, player icons, and an epic skin on top of usual earnings normally received.

At the end of each week, the challenges will expire. Once the week’s challenge has expired, the rewards will be reset, introducing a brand new set of sprays, icons, and epic skins that will be available for that week.

As this is a limited-time event, anyone hoping to get these unique items and skins must log in and earn them while the event is running.

Cosmetic items aren’t the only unique thing the 2019 Summer Games offers though, as Lúcioball also returns for this year’s event.

In this game mode, players each become everyone’s favorite DJ freedom fighter, Lucio. Similar to Rocket League, the goal of the game is to work together in order to get an oversized soccer ball into the other teams net.

Score more than your opponent before time runs out and your team wins.

If you missed out on the previous version of the Summer Games, you’ll want to check out this interesting bit of 3v3 competition this time around.

Overwatch’s 2019 Summer Games event is currently live and will take place from July 16 through Aug. 5 to enjoy the event.
