Today Bandai Namco announced via press release the development of a brand new online action RPG titled Blue Protocol.

The game is in development for PC by a team named Project Blue Sky, which is a joint initiative of Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studios.

It’s being created as a “new entertainment IP aiming to impress the world” using Unreal Engine 4. It takes advantage of the power of the engine to feature advanced visuals that look like theatrical anime.

More information will come in the near future, but for now, we get the first image, which you can enjoy below.

If you’re wondering, Japanese developers tend to use the definition of “online RPG” very broadly, all the way to MMORPGs like Phantasy Star Online 2. If I had to speculate, with the little information we have, that seems exactly to be the feel the screenshots above conveys.

Of course, we don’t know for sure what this is about, but the premise appears very exciting. We’ll have to wait for this reveal in the “near future” but so far, so good. Call my interest piqued.

As soon as Bandai Namco releases more information on Blue Protocol, you’ll be able to find all about it here on Twinfinite.
