Some might have felt a bit disappointed by the lack of an announcement trailer for the newly-revealed Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Everlasting Darkness and the Secret Hideaway.

Yet, we did get some footage, and it was hidden in plain sight right in the header of the official website.

After rummaging through the files of the website for a while, we managed to isolate the video, and you can watch it below. Since we were at it, we added the lovely background music included in the site. Do keep in mind that in order to cover the whole track, the video is looped three times.

We get to take the first look at the game’s lovely environments, which are very promising for the visual facelift Gust is promising. The music itself is charming as well.

Incidentally, Koei Tecmo has also sent an official press release in the meanwhile, and it includes a few more details in addition to what we learned earlier.

The levels have been designed in order to let the player feel the vastness of the adventure, while the new crafting system will be more intuitive visually in order to cause “the fun of recipe development” to be reborn. There is also a new system that will allow the player to “make” new items that couldn’t be made in previous games.

A few hints have been provided about the combat system, which has been redesigned and is “different from the conventional turn-based command system, providing a tense battle.” It also “enables the bond with friends to be felt more strongly.”

The gathering system has also been changed. It’s not passive anymore, but it’s more active. Interestingly, at the same gathering spot, you can receive different items depending on which tools you use.

While we wait for more information, you can watch the video below.

Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Everlasting Darkness and the Secret Hideaway will release in Japan in fall 2019.
