New Sakura Wars Game Will Get a Reveal at Sega Fes This Week

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Last year at Sega Fes, the publisher officially teased an upcoming brand new Sakura Taisen game, or Sakura Wars as the series is known in the west. Apparently, it’s nearly time to hear more.

Nothing of the game has been shown so far besides the small original teaser that you can see at the bottom of the post, but the wait appears to be close to the end, as mentioned by Sega’s Toshihiro Nagoshi during his Sega Nama livestream hosted today. The prolific developer revealed that the game will appear at Sega Fes this weekend.

While Nagoshi-san did not provide specific information on what will be showcased at the event, he did confirm that something is coming.

While the game is still tightly under wraps, we do know that it’s being developed by the team behind the Valkyria Chronicles series, which is basically going full-circle and is a good reason to be excited in its own right.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Sakura Wars series, it debuted all the way back in 1996 for the Sega Saturn. It was then continued across four more games of which the only one localized for the west is Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love (the fifth title) for PS2 and Wii.

The series has been dormant since 2005 if you don’t count mobile spinoffs, and it’ll be interesting to see this new reveal. Sega Fes will be hosted in Tokyo on March 30 and March 31.
