The demonstration showcased the service by displaying Forza Horizon 4 streamed to an Android smartphone from one of xCloud’s Azure datacenters. It was played on stage with a standard Xbox One controller paired with the mobile device via Bluetooth.

Head of Gaming Cloud Kareem Choudry mentioned that Project xCloud will offer the same experience (with the same cloud saves, infrastructure, account, and friends network) available on Xbox One, but on every device that can run the client. It will enter public trials later this year.

He also explained that he believes in a future in which people will think about gaming as they think about music, being able to enjoy the same game regardless of their location. The service will be available anywhere there is a “good network connection.”

Developers won’t even have to do any work to make their game compatible with xCloud. Choudry mentioned that this is “not a replacement for consoles” and Microsoft isn’t leaving the console business.

You can check it out in the video below, and see if the experience appears polished enough to get you interested in streaming your games on every platform Microsoft will decide to launch the service on.

Proud weeb hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long-standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality), MMORPGs, and visual novels are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.
