How to Change Your Weapon Loadout in Metro Exodus

Since you come across both human and mutant enemies in Metro Exodus, you’re going to want to fill your loadout with weapons that are useful for the situation. Here’s everything you need to know about how to change your weapon loadout in Metro Exodus.

There’s a lot of different weapons in Metro Exodus, from shotguns to powerful rail guns to accurate pistols, but you can only carry three weapons at a time.

You can carry two weapons that shoot standard bullets, and another special weapon that shoots metal balls instead. The special weapon also needs to have its pressure pumped every few rounds to keep it powerful, on top of being reloaded normally. You can also change that slot in your weapon loadout, though.

How to Get New Weapons in Metro Exodus

When an enemy drops a weapon, you can strip it for parts by holding Circle/ B when prompted, or hold Square/ X to swap your weapon with it. When you swap weapons, that weapon is then added to the weapons in your armory at the Aurora, but it’s not very clear how you get to them.

How to Change Your Weapon Loadout

You can swap weapons at crafting tables in Metro Exodus, where you’d usually craft ammo or equip upgrades to the weapons already in your loadout.

On the weapons tab, at the bottom of the weapon upgrades list, you’ll see an icon of two arrows. Scroll down to this with the d-pad and you can choose which weapon to swap out for the one you have equipped.

It’s hidden somewhat as another upgrade icon, but it’s actually an option to change your weapon loadout. You can see the names and images of the weapons just below the arrows icon on that screen.

That’s everything you need to know about how to change your weapon loadout in Metro Exodus. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our Metro Exodus wiki guide or search for Twinfinite.
