During the early stages of exploring the Raccoon City Police Department, you’ll come across the Safety Deposit Room. Inside, you’ll find a number of lockers that have some useful items within. Problem is, you’re missing some of the keys for the control panel to open them up. Here’s how to get the safety deposit room locker keys in Resident Evil 2.

Looking at the keypad in the Safety Deposit Room, you’ll notice that keys ‘2’ and ‘3’ are missing. Considering many of the lockers that contain these items require you to have one of these two keys, it’s well worth trying to track them down.

The first of the Safety Deposit Room locker keys can be found in the portable safe in the second-floor Shower Room on the West Wing of the police station. In a 2nd Run playthrough, this can instead be found in the Interrogation Room. You’ll need the Heart Key as Claire or Club Key as Leon to enter.

Use our guide to help you open the portable safe in Resident Evil 2, and you’ll find one of the spare keys inside. This can be placed in the slot for either ‘2’ or ‘3’ on the keypad, so take a quick look at the items available in the various lockers and make your decision this way.

The second of the Safety Deposit Room locker keys in Resident Evil 2 won’t come until a little later on in your adventure around the police station. Once again, you’ll have to crack open one of those portable safes, but this one can be found in the Linen Room.

Problem is, in order to gain access to the Linen Room in Resident Evil 2, you’ll need to get the Diamond Key. This itself can be obtained from the Morgue.

Check the second storage space from the left on the left wall and you’ll find the Diamond Key with a zombie next to it. As soon as you grab the key, the zombie will come to life and a bunch of others will storm into the Morgue to ambush you, so be prepared.

Once you’ve got the Diamond Key, return to the Linen Room, open it up, and you’ll find the portable safe sitting on top of a washing machine within this small room.

A quick recap of those Safety Deposit Room Locker Key locations in Resident Evil 2:

  • Second-floor bathroom on the west wing of the Police Station. Look for the portable safe to the right as you walk into this room.
  • Inside the Linen Room. You’ll need the Diamond Key from the Morgue to open this room, and then the locker key can be found in the portable safe sitting on top of the washing machine in this room, too.

After you’ve grabbed them both, return to the Safety Deposit Room, slot the locker keys into place, and you’ll be free to loot it of all its goodies.
