This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Aside from the aforementioned titles, Online subscribers will also get to play Metroid and Dr Mario. The Special Version of Metroid lets you start the game right before the big battle against Ridley, which is basically the end of the game. In addition to that, players will also get to start with all of Samus’ equipment and upgrades. So, just in case you haven’t played Metroid and you feel like taking on the final battle first, there you go.

Dr Mario also comes with a Special Version, though this one is a little less exciting than Metroid. After beating level 20 in Dr Mario at Hi Speed, you’ll unlock a rare scene in the game itself.

So there you have it. If you’re a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber, you’re getting five new NES games this month, with some Special Versions to check out. Nintendo’s Special Versions have been interesting so far, and it’ll definitely be nice to see what else they come up with down the line.
