Epic Games Giving Away Save the World Mode to Xbox One Fortnite Bundle Buyers After Advertising Confusion

Fortnite studio Epic Games announced today it will be giving free access to the game’s Save the World mode to Xbox One S Fortnite Bundle owners after it was not made clear by the marketing that it was not included.

The bundle, introduced last September, offered an Xbox One S alongside an exclusive Fortnite: Battle Royale cosmetic set themed after the Xbox brand, 2,000 V-Bucks and “a full-game download of Fortnite.” The game contains two modes: the free-to-play standalone Battle Royale and Save the World, a cooperative multiplayer mode that must be paid for to access.

One Reddit user raised an issue on the Xbox One subreddit that the bundle only contained a download code for the already free Battle Royale mode, despite the packaging advertising the “full game” of “Fortnite.” Epic Games replied to the post hours later to clear up the confusion.

“We agree that the messaging on the Xbox One S Fortnite Bundle was unclear and so will be granting free access to Save the World for those who purchased the bundle,” the company wrote. “We are going to begin identifying players who have claimed the Eon Bundle and will be granting their accounts access to Save the World.”

Epic Games will also be granting access to players who claim the bundle in the future, and giving away an additional 2,000 V-Bucks to those who purchased both the Eon Bundle and the Save the World campaign. The studio plans to update the announcement post when it knows the “exact timing of entitlements.”
