Pokémon: Let’s Go and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Top UK Sales Charts

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

This past week was busy, to say the least, with many AAA titles releasing in a short period of time. Among those, were Pokémon: Let’s Go and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy.

Despite the amount of games released, Pokémon: Let’s Go and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy sold extremely well, emerging as the top selling games in the UK last week.

Now, it is worth noting that Pokémon: Let’s Go has multiple SKUs, with Let’s Go: Pikachu and Let’s Go: Eevee, as well as the bundles that include the Poké Ball Plus. Despite that, you can tell nostalgia is a powerful thing, as both the Pokémon titles and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy are remakes (sort of).

Pokémon: Let’s Go does have a bit of an advantage since Let’s Go: Pikachu and Let’s Go: Eevee are listed separately. So if you don’t count them together, Spyro: Reignited Trilogy debuted at No.1 on the UK charts last week, which is impressive since a Fallout game released during the same time.

Sadly, Hitman 2 did not perform as well during its release, as it only ranked at No. 10 on the UK charts – a 90% decrease compared to 2012’s Hitman: Absolution.

It’s clear that crowded release windows will cause certain games to drop in sales, so perhaps we will see more strategic planning in the future. Nevertheless, Pokémon: Let’s Go and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy will be hot sellers through the holidays, and remain relevant, despite being based off older 90’s games.
