Releasing on Dec 12, 2018, Comrades will somewhat exist as a separate entity from the original expansion that came to FFXV. By purchasing the multiplayer mode you no longer will need to start up the main game to access the content. Another difference from this standalone release and the expansion will be the inclusion of 10 new bosses, costumes, and weapons.

As of Dec 13 –in Japan at least– the older version of Comrades will no longer be playable. That being said, anyone who has purchased the older version will be able to upgrade to the new mode, free of charge.

The standalone version of Comrades will not be coming to PC, but the additional new features for Comrades will be available for PC players via a free update.

Final Fantasy XV is now available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. You’ll be able to try out the new version of Comrades once it launches on Dec 12. Square Enix did not provide information on how much the standalone release of Comrades would go for, but once we get that information, we’ll be sure to let you all know.
