During a new live stream Square Enix showed off the opening movie for Dragon Quest Builders 2, as well as announcing the game will launch on Dec. 20, 2018 in Japan, for PlayStation 4 and Switch. The opening comes in two different version, one for the female hero and one for the male hero, although they’re mostly the same.
The adorable opening shows our protagonist smashing blocks in fun fashion, rebuilding a huge kingdom with the help of others, and a secondary character who appears to be rather important to the story. Koei Tecmo is lending a hand on the development of Dragon Quest Builders 2, in order to help strengthen the game’s action parts. There will be new information shared on Dragon Quest Builders 2 during Square Enix’s stage event at Tokyo Game Show on September 22 at 14:00 JST, and the game will be playable for the first time at TGS. Take a look at the openings down below.
There’s currently no word on a western release for Dragon Quest Builders 2, although the first game is out on PS4, PC, and Switch currently. The next entry in the franchise, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, hits PS4 and PC on Sept. 4. We gave the game a rare 5/5 score in our review, saying it’s the best game in the long-running franchise yet.
