How to Skip Cutscenes in Octopath Traveler

Recommended Videos

Octopath Traveler is the latest title to come exclusively to the Nintendo Switch. Courtesy of the talented folk over at Square Enix, Octopath Traveler tells the story of eight unique protagonists whose paths all cross at one point or another through the overarching narrative. There’s plenty of story and lore to dive into here, and you’re sure to get invested with your party of characters on your adventure. Of course, sometimes, you just can’t be bothered reading through swathes of text once you’ve got the gist of the conversation. Or maybe you just don’t care about the story in Octopath Traveler at all. Either way, here’s what you need to know to skip cutscenes so you can get straight back into the action.

When you’re watching one of the cutscenes in Octopath Traveler, all you need to do is hold the B button on your Switch Joy-Con or controller. Simply pressing B won’t do the job, so be sure to keep it held down until something changes on-screen. Keep it pressed until the cutscene stops abruptly and you’ll be back in control of your adventure in no time.

All we would say is that if you’re looking to get the full experience out of Octopath Traveler, you’re best taking your time soaking up all of the information that’s given to you in these cutscenes and conversations. The story definitely helps to drive your experience forward and it’s always nice to have some context to all the monster-slaying you’re doing, but ultimately it’s you’re choice.

And that really is all there is to know to skip cutscenes in Octopath Traveler. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki which we’ll be constantly updating as we find and uncover more tips, tricks, and secrets.
