One of the major complaints we had about the first Division was the lack of a dedicated clan system at launch. However, when we got to speak with Creative Director Julian Gerighty at E3 2018, he mentioned that Massive was dedicated to creating a much more accessible clan feature in The Division 2 in order to allow as many players as possible to experience the multiplayer content with other people.
‘I’m always blown away by how fast things are actually beaten, but if I’m excited about one social feature, that’s clans. And the high-level brief is that it has to be the most accessible clan feature ever created on console or PC, because I want people to experience the pleasure of playing in multiplayer through the clan system.’
In addition to that, Gerighty also confirmed that the matchmaking system will continue to be a thing in The Division 2. He stated that the team would prefer to encourage players to use the clan system so that they can avoid issues that might pop up with random pick-up groups, but matchmaking should still be around for those who need it.
The Division 2 is set to be released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 15, 2019. You can check out our full interview with Gerighty here.
