In a blog post made earlier this morning, Xbox Games Marketing General Manager, Aaron Greenberg, announced that State of Decay 2 exceeded two million players in less than two weeks of its release.
A little over a week ago, on May 25, a post was made to announce that over one million people played State of Decay 2 in its first two days at launch. Now, nine days later, that number has grown to be over twice as large.
“It has been incredible to see fans around the world supporting State of Decay 2 and we are excited to share that we have reached more than 2 million players in less than two weeks since our global launch on May 22,” the blog posts reads. “On behalf of the team here and our incredibly talented partners at Undead Labs, we want to thank the millions of fans old and new who have helped build such a strong community of players united in the fight for survival.”
It is unclear if the two million players includes those who have played the game via Xbox Game Pass, or if it’s strictly those who purchased the game.
When the game surpassed one million players, a slew of data was released. Now, there are even more milestones that have been made. According to the blog post, players have eliminated close to two billion zombies. These players survive for about three days on average, and they’ve completed over 121,000 community stories.
With two million players, Greenberg said that Undead Labs is hard at work in an effort to bring key fixes, gameplay tune-ups and quality of life improvements–the latest of which was seen with last Friday’s 20GB patch.
State of Decay 2 is the sequel to State of Decay and puts players in small-town America, one year following the end of civilization as we know it. Zombies have taken over and now it’s up to players to gather survivors and build a community. You can play the game via Xbox Game Pass, which is $9.99 a month, and includes hundreds of other Xbox titles, or you can purchase the Standard Edition of the game for $29.99. If you’re interested, there’s also an Ultimate Edition of State of Decay 2 that comes with some beneficial in-game items. This edition of the game is available for $49.99.
