Setting a Password in Dark Souls Remastered

Recommended Videos

Password matching is a new feature that’s been added in Dark Souls Remastered. With this, it’ll become a lot easier for you to play through the game in online co-op with your friends, or even organize PvP duels with them. You no longer have to go through a process of trial and error by leaving your summon sign on the ground multiple times in the hopes that your friend will finally be able to see them.

In order to play with friends, you’ll first need to set a password. This can be done in-game or through the Settings option on the main menu. Simply open up the Settings menu, and then select Network Settings. From here, you’ll see the Matchmaking Password option, and you can then set it to whatever you like. Once you’ve set a password, let your friend know what it is. Now, only people with that password will be able to see your summon signs and vice versa. In addition to that, make sure that your character has their humanity restored. You can do this by consuming a Humanity item and restoring it at a bonfire. You don’t need to be human to be summoned, but you do need it to see summon signs.

If you want to be matched up with other random players, simply delete the password from the network settings, and you’ll be good to go. Do note that you can still be invaded by random players regardless of your settings.
