Pokemon GO Celebrates First Year Anniversary With New In-Game and Real World Events

New year, new events.

Pokemon GO, the hottest mobile game of 2016, will be celebrating its first year anniversary this summer, and Niantic has celebration plans in store for us. The celebration will kick off this June with a Solstice event, where Fire and Ice Pokemon will be out in full force. There will be huge experience bonuses and other discounts as well. Niantic also teased an upcoming update which will include “group gameplay features.” They didn’t elaborate further, but these could very well be PVP-related.

Next, Niantic is also hosting a festival in Chicago this July.

‘We’re also excited to announce our first ever real-world Pokémon GO event coming your way: Pokémon GO Fest Chicago! This event will take place in downtown Chicago, Illinois, USA at the beautiful Grant Park on July 22, 2017. Join us as we celebrate the Pokémon GO community with a ton of exciting festivities.’

More details about the event itself will be revealed on June 19. We’ll keep you updated as more info comes our way.

Pokemon GO is now available on iOS and Android devices.
