Not the simplest headset setup...

Today, Hori unveiled its Splatoon 2 Nintendo Switch voice chat headset which allows for both in-game sound and voice chat. Unfortunately, it’s not exactly the most straightforward setup.

The news comes via a tweet from the official Hori Twitter account which revealed the Stereo Headset Empera Hook HDP for the Switch will release alongside Splatoon 2 on July 21.

As you can see from the images included with the tweet, however, the setup is a little less straightforward than simply plugging it into your Switch. You’ll have a wire leading from the headset into a sort of junction box which then splits off into another two wires, one for your Switch and the other for your mobile device.

The headphones themselves are certainly stylish and perfectly nail the Splatoon 2 vibe, and the headset even comes with neon pink ear cups that you can switch out if you so wish. However, the setup isn’t exactly ideal if you’re wanting to play a quick online game on the go.

Splatoon 2 and Hori’s headset will release for the Nintendo Switch on July 21.
