Yooka-Laylee: How to Get Tonics & What They Do

How to Get Tonics & What They Do in Yooka-Laylee

Recommended Videos

It’s possible to make your way through the entirety of Yooka-Laylee and never even use a Tonic, but they’re definitely worth checking out. These Tonics can be gotten from the big yellow fridge character that can be found in both Hivory Towers and each of the five Grand Tomes in the game.

She won’t just give you a Tonic for nothing, though. First, you’ll need to meet specific criteria as you play through the game to unlock them. Don’t worry, though, she’ll notify you when you’ve unlocked one, so then all you need to do is track her down.

For those unaware of what Tonics are in Yooka-Laylee, they basically grant our heroic duo a buff. Whether it’s an extra butterfly to your health gauge, or hearing a noise when a rare item is nearby, there’s something for everyone. It’s worth noting, however, that you won’t be able to just equip all of these Tonics for your playthrough. You’ll only ever be able to have one Tonic active at any time. With that in mind, make sure you choose wisely. You may even want to switch Tonics dependent on the challenges you face in each world.
