Final Fantasy XIV Patch 3.5 Datamining Efforts All But Confirm New Samurai Job

As expected.

Fans of Final Fantasy XIV have been speculating for awhile now that the Samurai would be the new Job introduced in the game’s upcoming Stormblood expansion, alongside the recently announced Red Mage Job and possible Dancer Job. With the release of patch 3.5 The Far Edge of Fate, dataminers have gone to work and scrounged up whatever new details they could about Stormblood.

It looks like the Samurai Job is a lock after all. According to the dataminers over at the game’s subreddit, files titles JobSam have been uncovered, along with specific cutscene files for it, not unlike the other similar files we’ve seen for Jobs like Black Mage and Dragoon in the game.

There’s still another fanfest to come this year, and we’ll likely get even more details about the new Jobs and content coming in Stormblood. For now, patch 3.5 is live, and it comes with even more main story quests and new dungeons to try out.

Final Fantasy XIV is now available on PC and PS4, and the Stormblood expansion is set to be released on June 20.
