Call of Duty Nabs Best-Selling Game for the Third Year in a Row, Also These Games Sold Alright Too

The NPD group has confirmed that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was the best-selling game for the whole of 2016, beating the likes of Battlefield 1 and Final Fantasy XV.

The list is ranked in terms of dollar sales in the US, and combines both physical and digital sales from select publishers. Alongside the top 10 for the year, NPD also revealed the best-selling games for December 2016, too. You can check out the list below.

  1. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  2. Battlefield 1
  3. The Division
  4. NBA 2K17
  5. Madden NFL 17
  6. Grand Theft Auto V
  7. Overwatch (no Battle.net sales)
  8. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
  9. FIFA 17
  10. Final Fantasy XV

It’s worth noting that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare marks the third year in a row that the series’ annual installment has gone on to become the best-selling game of the year. That’s some pretty impressive sales, especially considering the title’s launch sales were down almost 50% compared to the previous year’s title.

You can check out the top 10 best-selling games for the month of December below. Unsurprisingly, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare came out on top here, too, beating out the likes of Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs 2, and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV. Please note that titles with asterisks indicate that digital sales were not included.
