Square Enix Announces Final Fantasy XII HD Remaster for PS4

It was only a matter of time.

Well well well, if it isn’t a surprise announcement of a Final Fantasy XII HD remaster. To be fair, fans have been expecting this announcement for a while now, so I guess it’s not really a surprise. Still, Square Enix released a teaser trailer today, announcing the existence of a game called Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. You can check out the trailer down below.

It looks like a HD remaster of Final Fantasy XII: International – Zodiac Job System, which was previously released in Japan on the PS2. The trailer looks great, and it gives us a look at the main party of characters, as well as a few enemies here and there, some dungeons, and a glimpse of the combat system.

I haven’t played Final Fantasy XII myself, but some common criticisms for this game included its unnecessary openness, and the way it handled its side quests. Of course, I’ll reserve all judgment until I’ve actually played the game for myself, and this looks like the perfect opportunity to do so.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age has been announced only for the PS4, and will be released in 2017. Here’s hoping it comes to the Vita too.
