Here’s how to skip cutscenes in Spider-Man PS4 if you just want to keep straight with the action of the game.

Now that Insomniac’s Spider-Man has launched on PlayStation 4, players can experience the well-crafted and beautifully animated superhero story of an older, more mature Peter Parker.

In the roughly 20-hour story, players will continue to see Peter struggle with balancing his life as himself, a pedestrian scientist, and the responsibilities of the amazing Spidey, to varying degrees of success. If the story of the game doesn’t interest you, though, you may want to know how to skip cutscenes.

The story takes place over a span of approximately two weeks in early Autumn. After recently taking down iconic baddie Wilson Fisk, otherwise known as Kingpin, a power vacuum has formed, seeing the rise of a rogue’s gallery that must be stopped.

While Peter is taking on all of these foes, he is also reconnecting with Mary Jane, an ex-girlfriend with whom Peter has not connected with for quite some time.

Mary Jane is voiced by Laura Bailey, who is known for her part in Critical Role and for voice acting in a number of video game franchises, including The Last of Us and Uncharted.

For those who wish to skip the story and get right back into the gorgeous realization of New York City to fight through more villains, skipping the cutscenes would be an effective and efficient way to get back to the meat of the game.

Once a cutscene begins playing, push the Option button on the DualShock 4 controller. Pushing the Option button will pause the cutscene and open up a menu. One option in the menu will say ‘Skip Cutscene’. Scroll down to that option with the left analog stick and push X to select it. This will skip the cutscene and begin the next segment of gameplay.

If you want to skip the whole story but would still like to know what’s going on, head over to our story summary for the game!
