My Time at Portia is a simulation RPG developed by the folks over at Pathea Games. You take on the role of a builder in a post-apocalyptic town called Portia. Through crafting, upgrading, and gathering items you set your eyes on the prize of being the best workshop in the city.

Building

Before you start building your workshop up, you’ll need to gather some materials. Gathering materials are essential and should be prioritized, especially early on in the game.

There are three skill trees in My Time at Portia, and the Gatherer skill tree should be where you invest early game points.

This will allow you to use more of your stamina to gather materials like wood, which will then be used to build up your workshop. To build, you’ll need to go back to your worktable at your house. Just click on the table, and it will open up the options you have available.

If you have the required materials merely click on the item and boom, you’ve built your first item. You’ll be making a ton of stuff in My Time at Portia so always be sure to keep an eye out for necessary materials

Upgrading Your Gear in My Time At Portia

As most of these games go, you’ll have pretty weak tools at the beginning and as you find more precious resources you’ll be able to make stronger tools. Your gear can be upgraded through an item called Data Discs. These items are extremely important.

Data discs can be found in the mines, which can be visited once a day for 80 gold a pop. As you explore the mine, you have the chance of finding Data Discs, which can be given to Petra in the research lab.

Once you’ve collected five Data Discs, you can go to Petra and select the research tab when speaking to her. This will unlock a new blueprint for you, which is how you’ll begin to upgrade your gear.

Weapons and items like the smelter or furnace can all be upgraded through this process. Once you’re given a blueprint for an upgrade, just go back to your work table and use the required materials to complete the task.

Why It’s Important

Upgrading and building are how you will progress through the story of My Time at Portia. There are plenty of things to do while exploring like playing minigames, finding love, or even dungeon crawling, but it all centers around building and upgrading your gear and workshop.

The worktable is where you will spend most of your time at Portia, and Data Discs are of high importance.
