Save Big with Square Enix’s Surprise Holiday Box

What's in the box?
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Square Enix has kicked off the holidays with the continuation of their annual gift-bag style sale, offering over $80 worth of games and store offerings for a low price of $10. Their “Holiday Surprise Box” contains five Square Enix games, picked at random, and all redeemable through their store. The package is currently available for pre-order, and is available until December 17th at 11:59 PM (PST). The games are delivered after that point in the form of digital downloads. The site is oddly unspecific on the actual time the codes will release, but suggests it will take place some point around midnight of the 18th.

There has been some confusion in the past years over how to redeem the games and the store offers, as you can see in the comments below their previous announcements. The games must be redeemed through Square Enix’s store, not Steam, and the store offers are likely to come in the form of coupons for reduced prices.

It is important to note that the games are selected randomly, and may include any of Square Enix’s titles, including the newly announced PC port of the mobile port of Final Fantasy VI, which has received some criticism over its artistic choices. This is a surprise selection, which means you will not always get what you want, or even like, but that’s the name of the game.
