The world’s most punishing road race returns in 2020, but you won’t have to sign your own death warrant to take part. That’s because developer Kylotenn is busily reading a brand new TT Isle of Man video game experience for next year. Ride on the Edge 2 is set to make big improvements to bike physics this time around, and today a new trailer showcases the new features today.
For the sequel, the bike physics are said to have been rebuilt from the ground up to create more realistic behavior. This includes the gyroscopic effect, which is now completely integrated for more precise steering. Speed wobbles have been added to alert riders that a fall could be imminent.
Elsewhere, brakes and shock absorbers have also been redesigned to pick up more subtle undulations on the road more convincingly.
As before, beyond improving your lap times by taking more efficient racing lines and staying sticking behind other riders to benefit from the slipstream, there’s many other factors to management over the course of the near forty-mile race.
This includes managing wear and tear-offs, as well as monitoring the brakes, suspensions, engine and tire temperature.
The original Ride on the Edge wasn’t anywhere as good as I’d expected, but today’s trailer has me hopeful that it’s going to much better this time around.
TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2 will be available on PC and consoles in 2020, though no specific release date has been confirmed.
