This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Today, via Xbox Wire, Xbox revealed that State of Decay 2 now exceeds over 3 million players, pairing this new alongside the news that it was the best selling game of May, beating out other exclusive newcomer, Detroit: Become Human.

Alongside this, Xbox has released a new trailer for the Independence Pack which is out now for all State of Decay 2 players. If you purchased the Ultimate Edition, it’s free to download. For everyone else, it’s $4.99, but if you’re a Game Pass member you’ll get a 10% discount. The pack includes 4th of July themed vehicles, weapons, and guns including a new BBQ Fork melee weapon.

Finally, the next DLC, the Daybreak Pack, was detailed out a bit. Coming this September, Daybreak Pack allows you to play as a Red Talon solider, and hold out against waves of zombies. So basically, it’s probably a horde mode which is pretty fitting for a game that is kind of like a giant open world horde mode anyway. Daybreak Pack will also be free if you’re an Ultimate Edition purchaser.

All in all, State of Decay 2 appears to be doing pretty well for itself despite some rocky issues that we experienced at launch. At the end of the day, if the core game is fun, then problems such as zombies falling out from the sky can be overlooked.
