What’s interesting to note is that Microsoft directly said in their headline for this press release, “State of Decay 2 Breaks Record with Over 1 Million Players in First Two Days of Global Release.” The press release this headline accompanies said, “Since Early Access for the Ultimate Edition on May 18 and the global release of the Standard Edition on May 22, we had over a million survivors across the globe playing and creating their own zombie survival story.”

It would seem that part of the one million players that have played the Undead Labs-developed game in the first two days following its global release are players who purchased the Ultimate Edition and were able to jump into the game four days early. Regardless, two days after the global launch on May 22, State of Decay 2 had one million unique people playing the game.

Furthermore, Microsoft expanded on just how much those one million players have done–they’ve killed over 675 million zombies, thrown over six million firecrackers and fireworks, eaten over six million bags of snacks and read over two million textbooks. Microsoft also stated that the average survival rate of players is three days.

State of Decay 2 launched with quite a bit of bugs and performance issues, but according to Microsoft and Undead Labs, they are aware of the problem.

“Putting this giant open-world zombie survival sim in the hands of fans has exposed some bugs and issues–we’ve addressed and will continue to address them as we hear more from players,” the press release read. “The team at Microsoft Studios and Undead Labs continue to work on updating the game to address these issues as our number one priority.”

If you haven’t picked up State of Decay 2 yet, and want to, the standard edition is available for $29.99. You can also pick up the Ultimate Edition for $49.99, which unlike the standard edition, includes two add-on packs that give the players more vehicles and other extras to use during their time with the game. You can also play State of Decay 2 by signing up for the Xbox Game Pass, which is $9.99 a month. The Xbox Game Pass gives you access to over 100 Xbox games available to download and play on your system.
