Square Enix Opens up New Luminous Productions Studio in Tokyo

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Square Enix has just opened a new development studio known as Luminous Productions, which will be headed by Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata. He’ll also act as the studio’s chief operating officer out of the Tokyo office. According to Square Enix, the team at Luminous Productions will be working on creating new triple-A IPs for an international audience, comprised of several members of the team that brought us Final Fantasy XV to begin with.

There isn’t a lot of information about the studio floating around the studio just yet, despite the official name announcement, location, and who’s meant to be involved. The official website is up with its own set of job listings, if you’re local, but there isn’t a lot about what the studio will be making or what it plans to do in the future beyond making games with what is assumed to be the Luminous Engine going forward.

It will be intriguing to see what games come of Luminous Productions in the future, but for now we’ll have to wait and see what’s next when the team decides to make another announcement. As far as what kind of games are coming, we’ll have to wait a bit and see what happens with that end as well.
