The wait for Final Fantasy on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One is almost over, and we couldn’t be happier.
Late last year, Nintendo announced Final Fantasy would make a return to Nintendo’s newest console, the Nintendo Switch. After all, the franchise got its start on the NES, so it’s only fitting the series’ most popular titles were ported to Nintendo’s latest hotness. Of course, Nintendo initially didn’t reveal when these games would be available on the Switch, but that’s changed for one of the ports.
According to Square Enix Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will be available on the Switch and Xbox One on April 30. That is good news by itself, but the company ain’t done yet. To celebrate, Square also gave some sweet new artwork by Akihiko Yoshida.
Now, Yoshida ain’t no Yoshitaka Amano (the guy who designed the vast majority of Final Fantasy characters, as well as every Final Fantasy title logo), but Yoshida still has a style all his own. Anyone who has played Tactics Ogre should be familiar with Yoshida’s work. Oh, and he also developed Final Fantasy XII’s main cast. Here’s hoping this piece of art is used for the port’s box cover
We at Twinfinite love Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. In our review, we gave it a solid 4 out of 5 score —complete with an Editor’s Choice award— because of its quality of life improvements, audio and visual upgrades, and timeless story.
With the upcoming Switch and Xbox One ports, players with every modern console can enjoy Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. That is the brilliance of releasing a stellar title on multiple platforms: everyone gets to experience the glory and majesty of the game without having to shell out $300-$400 for a new console.
