First of all, you can gather relevant information while playing. Gathered information lets you create options during the briefing phase before a mission. Depending on which option you choose, your party members and their behavior will change.

On the other hand, if you don’t have enough information, you may only have one option or no options at all. As a result, your party members may be less effective and the mission may be more difficut.

The gameplay flow during missions lets you control Subaru and then other characters will act, with turns repeating over and over until the goal is accomplished or the number of turns allocated ends. The point is to accomplish the mission before you run out of turns.

Subaru has an action gauge that depletes as you move him. When it reaches zero, his turn ends. When it’s other characters’ turn, they act according to the instructions they received in the briefing mentioned above.

If Subaru dies, the mission ends. Yet, he can return from death as in the original story. This means the game will resume from the briefing and Subaru will retain all the information gathered before he died, opening the possibility to avoid danger and making different choices.
