Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is an upcoming fighting game that popped out of nowhere today. Developed by Nway, it pits both Rangers and villains from across the franchise’s entire history against each other.
The announcement trailer, which you’ll find below, introduces three characters from the game’s roster. Gia Moran, the Yellow Super Mega Force ranger, joins Tommy Oliver and Jason Lee Scott, the Green and Red rangers from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
The official website shows that Lord Drakkon will also be a playable character, while suggesting that the roster will feature 15 members.
“Power Rangers fans have been asking for a high fidelity fighting game on console and PC that match up iconic Rangers and villains across the expansive Power Rangers multiverse for quite some time now”, NWay co-founder and CEO Taehoon Kim said.
He went on to state that the game will feature cross-play and cross-progression “across multiple platforms at the same time” which, by the looks of it, will include the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC.
Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is said to feature “a streamlined combat system” that caters to genre newcomers through simplified controls, while also bringing depth for more experienced players.
Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is scheduled to launch this April on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. It will arrive on PC at a later date. Pre-orders for the console versions are now live on the game’s website and include a bonus Green Ranger V2 Skin.
The Standard Edition, priced at $19.99, also includes a digital art book, alongside the aforementioned skin and a digital version of the game. The Digital Deluxe Edition, which costs $39.99, includes all Standard Edition content, alongside the Season One Pass, Lord Drakkon Evo II and a Pink Ranger Skin.
