Fans seem quite conflicted over the quality of the upcoming Nintendo Switch titles Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee, and have been ever since they got their first glimpse at the game. They’re concerned over both their connections to the Pokemon series at what seem like casual titles, and the usage of a peripheral with the Switch games.
A recent interview in Famitsu featuring the Pokemon Company’s CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara finds the CEO asking fans to simply trust in Game Freak in terms of what the new games have to offer, without judging them prematurely.
“Among those who have tried the game, some may feel that is has changed,” said Ishihara. “However, we have been continuously changing the formula of the games since our inception, and in the end the players have accepted those changes.” Pokemon is indeed an ever-changing series, with plenty of alterations showing up in the games over the years.
“In that sense, this time we are doing the same, but that is part of the long tradition of Game Freak and the Pokemon series. We will not go wrong with the basics, so please, trust us.”
We’ll have to wait and see what happens with the games’ content when they make their debut, but from where we’re standing they certainly look interesting, especially for newcomers to the series.
Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee are coming to Nintendo Switch on Nov. 16.
