Phantasy Star Online 2 Xbox One Pre-Downloads Now Available

With the open beta starting up tomorrow, Sega announced that players can now start pre-downloading Phantasy Star Online 2 in anticipation, that way when the open beta starts up at 9 PM EDT tomorrow, you’ll be all ready to roll.

Our experience with the closed beta was quite positive in spite of some hiccups early on. Twinfinite contributor Aaron Greenberg said this of his time with PSO2’s closed beta:

Given everything I witnessed during the closed beta, I am confident Phantasy Star Online 2 will be welcomed by many gamers as their new free-to-play MMO of choice —assuming that microtransactions are non-intrusive and kept to a minimum.

You’ll need roughly 72 GB to download PSO2 to your Xbox One, so make some space if you’re looking to get in.

According to the press release from Sega, the open beta will include the most update to date balancing and quality of life updates from the Japanese version of the game, which should quell the fears of some fans that may be nervous about the western version of PSO2 being drastically behind.

Sega also shared some interesting statistics about the closed beta that you can view here. One in particular that’s encouraging for those hoping that PSO2 finds a footing in the west is that over 98% of surveyed players from the closed beta plan to play PSO2 at launch.

Once we can finally have some extended time with Phantasy Star Online 2 starting tomorrow, we’ll share even more of our thoughts. In the meantime though, if you’re thinking about jumping in but aren’t sure where to start, be sure to check out our preliminary beginner’s guide.

We’ll be following PSO2 closely at Twinfinite so when we get word about the PC version of Phantasy Star Online 2, and any other future platforms down the road, we’ll be sure to cover it.
