Oddworld Soulstorm Shown at PlayStation 5 Future of Gaming Show

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

During the PS5 – The Future of Gaming Show earlier today, we got an extended look at Oddworld Soulstorm. The gameplay is following in the footsteps of past titles and maintaining the original side-scrolling look that made past Oddworld games what they were.

Despite that, the visuals are very clearly next-generation. The massive environments are impressive and the number of moving objects on the screen without any amount of slowdown is pretty impressive. And of course, it looks to be just as challenging as past Oddworld titles.

On top of that, we also got an extended look at some story elements that paint a bleak picture for the main character, Abe. However, a dark story is nothing new for the Oddworld franchise. The narrative picks up following the events of New ‘N’ Tasty, which saw Abe become something of a hero among the Mudokon.

Oddworld Soulstorm will be a PlayStation console exclusive for PS4 and PS5, but it will also be coming to PC at the same time.
