First of all, we learn that the console manufacturer’s results were extremely solid, recording a +34.4% increase year-on-year in sales and a massive +81.8% increase in operating profit year-on-year.

Incidentally, the operating profit figure is an all-time record for a console manufacturer.

Mobile and IP revenue was 57.0 billion, up 11.3% year-on-year.

The forecast for the fiscal year ending in March 2022 is a bit lower, dropping 9% in sales and 22% in operating profit. Yet, considering that the pandemic should hopefully become less of an issue, it’s still a quite ambitious prediction.

Incidentally, Nintendo mentions that said prediction is based on the assumption that the company will manage to secure enough parts (especially semiconductors, that are currently in short supply compared to demand) to manufacture enough consoles to fit its sales plans.

Speaking of video game sales, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has reached 35.39 million units shipped. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now second at 32.63 million units (of which 20.85 in the past fiscal year). Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is at 23.84 million units (10.62 in the past fiscal year). The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is at 22.28 million units. Pokémon Sword/Pokémon Shield is at 21.10 million units. Super Mario Odyssey is at 20.83 million units. Super Mario Party is at 14.79 million units. Super Mario 3D All-Stars shipped 9.01 million units. Ring Fit Adventure shipped 7.38 million units.
