Nintendo announced on Twitter this morning the decision to delay Advance Wars 1+2: ReBoot Camp, which was originally planned to release next month on April 8. This decision was made as a result of “recent world events,” suggesting that the invasion in Ukraine is the reason for the delay.

Advance Wars 1+2: ReBoot Camp is a remake of two tactical strategy games that were originally released on the Game Boy Advance. The remake was announced for the Nintendo Switch last year at E3 and initially had a December 2021 release date; however, Nintendo delayed it to 2022 in order to spend more time developing it.

With this second delay, there is no new planned release window. In fact, the game has been taken off of the Nintendo eShop completely, most likely out of respect to the ongoing crisis in Eastern Europe. Advance Wars 1+2: ReBoot Camp heavily features military themes such as tanks, missiles, and invasions.

Here’s Nintendo’s full description of the game:

Command an army in strategic, turn-based combat as a tactical adviser for the Orange Star Army. Your expertise is needed as you move land, air, and naval units across the battlefield. Take down enemy squads and capture towns and bases to secure victory and keep the peace. Keep an eye on the game-changing terrain and weather as you lead a variety of units across multiple maps. This remake features two campaigns that cover the events of Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising!

If you are looking for ways to help the situation in Ukraine, Necrosoft Games has organized an enormous bundle of 991 games on itch.io that you can buy for a minimum of $10; all proceeds go to charities supporting Ukraine.
