As reported by WCCFTech, a brand new update from a talented team of modders has just been rolled out, specifically for PC players, which adds a bunch of visual upgrades, bug fixes and audio improvements to Konami’s critically acclaimed survival-horror title.

You’ll now be able to witness the nightmare-inducing psychological horror of Pyramid Head in even more detail and clarity. Go ahead and check out the developer diary down below, which goes through the new improvements, while also helping to outline how to download and install the latest update:

As you can see in the video, specularity has now been added, which helps boost the shininess and reflections on skin and objects.

Next, dynamic resolution has been also introduced, which means that you can now change the resolution without having to close down the game. Additionally, some full-screen static images have been refined and upscaled.

Finally, some minor bug fixes regarding outdoor lighting and the game’s font aesthetics have been added as well.

Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition is an ongoing project of enhancement packages that makes the PC version of the game compatible with modern hardware and playable in a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, while improving visuals, audio, and bugs.

Examples of what the Enhanced Edition provides are: The use of a widescreen camera; high definition resolutions; upscaled fonts and 2D images; PlayStation 2 quality audio, fog, and shadows; restored post-processing effects; better controller support; and much more.

Made by a collaborative team of programmers, modders, and artists, the use of these enhancement packages makes for a definitive SH2 HD experience.

Of course, Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition is an ongoing user-mod, so expect to see more updates like these for PC in the future.

Elsewhere, console players will have to make do with the embarrassingly bug-ridden Silent Hill HD Collection on PS3 and Xbox 360, which launched to lousy reviews and poor fan reception. Still, it’s easily one of the best horror games of all-time, and you should absolutely check it out if you’re in the mood for a good ol’ slice of classic survival-horror.
