Every popular show receives a tie-in video game these days, especially popular anime shows. It was only a matter of time before My Hero Academia would receive its own game, one published by Bandai Namco no less. The announcement trailer for My Hero One’s Justice that released several months ago might not have revealed much, but now we have a proper gameplay trailer that tells gamers what to expect from the upcoming game.
My Hero One’s Justice (or is it My Hero One’s Justice – Plus Ultra!) takes a lot of cues from Bandai Namco’s Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm fighting game franchise. Like Ninja Storm, combatants in One’s Justice’s will run around large, open stages and unleash all manner of explosive and signature attacks. Fights will primarily be one-on-one affairs, but players can summon up to two allies to potentially change the tide of battle and set up opponents for devastating combos.
Unlike Ninja Storm, though, One’s Justice’s fights don’t take place on flat levels. Players can smash their opponents into walls and buildings, and I do mean smash. Each battlefield is destructible, but we don’t know yet if the destruction will only be cosmetic or if it will impact fights.
As My Hero One’s Justice is based on My Hero Academia, it goes without saying the game will star plenty of recognizable faces from the manga and anime. Main characters Midoriya, Bakugo, Todoroki, and Uraraka are front and center in the trailer, and fan-favorites such as Asui and All Might will also be playable in One’s Justice. But, the game won’t just be a fight amongst heroes, as the villains Stain and Shigaraki will muscle in on the battles. There’s also a good chance we will see plenty of other heroes and villains join the fray.
My Hero One’s Justice is scheduled to release later this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. While the trailer features Japanese voices, with luck, we can expect an optional full English dub on release.
