After months of anticipation, the release date for Insomniac’s Spider-Man game has finally been revealed.
Announced via Game Informer as part of their month long coverage of the game, the title’s firm release date has been revealed as Sept. 7. The title is exclusive to the PlayStation 4, with the game’s standard and deluxe editions now available for preorder through the PlayStation Store.
The game has been hotly anticipated since it was first revealed at Sony’s E3 2016 press conference. As Peter Parker, players must take on a newly former gang faction, the Inner Demons, following his defeat of the criminal Kingpin, Wilson Fisk. The title takes place from a third person perspective and allows players to swing across the city of New York while also battling enemies in fast-paced melee combat reminiscent of the Batman: Arkham series.
Though new details have been few and far between since its initial announcement, Game Informer’s coverage promises new gameplay footage and information about the game in the coming weeks.
Fans can look forward to getting their hands on the title when it ships later this year. For more on the game, check out some of its past gameplay footage revealing some of the game’s set piece moments involving the main villain.
