Simply called Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition, it will be the full game, released as a standalone experience. You will be able to buy it on July 31, and it will be free to download if you already have the base game on Steam, or buy it.

Speaking in a video announcing the game, Commercial Director, Dominic Matthews, said that Ninja Theory recommends “a minimum of a Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card.”

The announcement video runs through how the VR skew came to be, and reveals that the team was interested in a VR version early on in the game’s development, but “the camera movements were quite nauseating.” Sound and visual flair are important aspects of the original game, and it will only become more immersive in virtual reality. You can check out the video to hear the full story below.

There’s no news on whether the VR version of Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice will be coming to PlayStation VR, but after Ninja Theory’s recent acquisition by Microsoft, that might be quite unlikely.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition will be available for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift via Steam on July 31.
