CyberConnect2 president Hiroshi Matsuyama reveals that the studio actually made the proposal to release the game on Nintendo’s console multiple times, and even during the development of the PS4 version, they were aware of the popularity of the Switch.

While there was a talk about the possibility, the .Hack series has always been exclusive to PlayStation consoles and due to the long-standing relationship with Sony, it was difficult to release the game on Switch at the same time.

Yet, CyberConnct 2 would love to port the game to Nintendo’s platforms. They have made the proposal to Bandai Namco several times, but they were told that it’s hard to predict the cost of such an operation compared with the potential sales, which prevented it from happening.

Matsuyama-san concludes mentioning that if Nintendo Switch users would like the game on their consoles, they should contact Bandai Namco. This could change the publisher’s mind because it values feedback from the fans.

Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality), MMORPGs, and visual novels are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.
