Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Cross-Gen Bundle Signals No Free Upgrades

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

As the next console generation approaches we’ve seen a number of developers and publishers touting free upgrades as a sweetener, but it doesn’t sound as though Activision is following suit. That’s the big takeaway from today’s newly revealed “cross-gen bundle” of the upcoming game, which offers both versions of the game for an additional fee.

The $69.99 bundle sits in between the familiar “Standard” and “Ultimate” editions of the game, which are $59.9 and $89.99 respectively. It’s not a huge jump in price, but the mere lack of any smart delivery/free upgrade offer from the latest iteration of what is among gaming’s most lucrative IPs is likely to frustrate many.

The game is set to launch on Nov. 13, with pre-orders of the game including the usual early access to the multiplayer beta, as well as an “Iconic Operator Frank Woods and an assault rifle Weapon Blueprint.” You can part with your money here if that sounds appealing.

For those who would rather wait until they’ve seen the game in action first, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to be revealed during an in-game Warzone event today (any minute now at the time of writing, in fact).
