We’ve come to expect delays from crowdfunded video games, but that doesn’t make the wait any less agonizing, especially when Agony is literally the name of the game.
Yesterday, Madmind Studio updated Agony’s Kickstarter campaign page with a bit of bad news: the game will not be released on March 30th as planned. However, the studio promises to reveal the new release date as soon as possible.
Since Agony was scheduled to release in ten days, you might wonder why Madmind Studio is pushing back the release date. Turns out the studio wants to polish the game as much as possible. Agony is being released for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, and since it is Madmind Studio’s first game, the company wants to put its best foot forward. This isn’t the first time the game has been delayed, though, as it was originally supposed to release May 2017; the March 30th release date wasn’t announced until October 5th, 2017.
The update isn’t all bad news, though. Agony has finally received its age ratings, and Madmind Studio is proud to announce the game will support English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Turkish, and Portuguese at launch. While the studio isn’t making any promises, it states additional languages could be supported in the future.
Even though the game has yet to be released, Agony has received accolades from numerous outlets, including PCGamer, VG247, Bloody Disgusting, Eurogamer, and our site. The game even won the Best Game of PGA award from Destructoid and placed second in Gameranx’s Best Game of Gamescom list, so many players are clearly looking forward to the game and will be disappointed by the delay.
We at Twinfinite will continue to cover Agony-related news and announcements. With luck, we will not have to wait too long for the new release date announcement. Or the new release date.
