Zelda Link’s Awakening: How to Get the Ocarina

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Considering that Link’s Awakening’s story revolves around collecting different instruments to awaken the Wind Fish, there is indeed an Ocarina that you can get your hands on as well. Here’s how to get the Ocarina in Link’s Awakening and what to do with it.

In Mabe Village, you might have noticed a small hut in the north side of the town that’s closed off by three heavy rocks. In order to get inside this area, you must need the Power Bracelet.

This leads Link into a room with a bed in it. Go sleep in the bed and then Link will be transported to the Dream Shrine, which houses a treasure chest with an Ocarina inside of it, but you’ll need the pegasus boots to traverse across the ruined shrine in order to reach the chest.

Once you have the Ocarina in tow, you have to equip it in the menu before you can use it. But, until you learn a song to play on it, the instrument will not have any effects.

How to Learn Songs

The first song that you’ll learn is the Ballad of the Wind Fish which will be taught to you by Marin later in the story. This will be used to wake the fish, once you have all of the eight instruments collected from the dungeons.

The second song you’ll learn is called Manbo’s Mambo from the fish in the Angler’s Tunnel, which lets you transport to any fast travel spot from anywhere on the world map.

And for the third song, we’ve yet to get to the point in the game, but once we find the last song, we will update this guide with the info.

To sum things up:

  1. Enter the Dream Shine from Mabe Village.

You’ll need the power bracelet and the pegasus boots.

  2. Open the chest to get the Ocarina.

  3. Equip it to play songs once you learn some.

And that’s all you need to know about how to get the Ocarina in Link’s Awakening. For more on the new Switch game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide and our scored review on Twinfinite.
