Valheim is the latest Viking survival game sensation that’s been tearing up the charts on Steam. Developed by Iron Gate AB, the game is still in early access, but it’s already full-featured enough that most players would be able to jump in and have a ton of fun with the game. Here’s how to get all workbench upgrades in Valheim.
Getting All Workbench Upgrades in Valheim
You need a workbench to do pretty much anything in the harsh world of Valheim, and while the starter workbench itself is sufficient to help you build a shelter and even a decent enough house, you’ll need to upgrade it if you want to get to the advanced stuff. Thankfully, upgrading the workbench is actually fairly straightforward.
To get upgrade the workbench, you need to craft specific pieces of furniture and put them close to the workbench itself. The four items are the chopping block, the tanning rack, the adze, and the tool shelf.
Chopping Block
The chopping block workbench upgrade is the easiest one to get, as you can farm the materials in the Meadows biome. The required materials for a chopping block are as follows:
- Wood x10
- Flint x10
After crafting it, put the chopping block within two meters of the workbench.
Tanning Rack
The next item you need for a workbench upgrade is the tanning rack, which is also pretty easy to craft. The only tricky thing is that you need some deer hide, and deer are notoriously difficult to hunt in this game.
We recommend crafting a crude bow to snipe the deer from afar to get their hide. The required materials for a tanning rack are as follows:
- Wood x10
- Flint x15
- Leather scraps x20
- Deer hide x5
Adze
This is where things get trickier. Crafting the adze requires a forge, which requires Copper, which means that you need to have defeated Eikthyr and gotten a pickaxe. You’ll then be able to start mining ore to craft a forge.
In addition to that, you’ll also need to use the forge to process your mined copper and tin to create bronze, then craft a bronze axe to chop your birch and oak trees for fine wood. The required materials for an adze are as follows:
- Fine wood x10
- Bronze x3
Tool Shelf
Finally, the last workbench upgrade requires you to craft a tool shelf. Similar to the adze, you also need the forge to put down the tool shelf, and you’ll need to be able to craft an iron pickaxe to start mining obsidian.
The required materials for a tool shelf are as follows:
- Iron x4
- Fine wood x10
- Obsidian x4
Once you have all four pieces of furniture displayed near the workbench, it’ll be fully upgraded. It’s worth noting that these pieces can be used to upgrade more than one workbench simultaneously.
That’s all you need to know about how to get all workbench upgrades in Valheim. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
