Healing and increasing max health in Tunic is pretty important if you’re going to beat the various boss battles throughout your adventure in the game’s mystical world. There are a few ways you can heal, and one very hidden way to increase your max health, and this guide will talk you through how to do both.
Healing in Tunic
To heal, you can either use one of your Health Potion flasks, indicated in the upper right-hand corner of the screen by pressing RB.
You’ll also find red berries by opening up treasure chests around the world, or visiting the creepy wolf ghost vendor found in different locations (such as the windmill).
You can then open your inventory, assign them to one of your three face buttons, and then press that to use them whenever you need to. This is especially handy when you’ve emptied your health potion flasks.
Alternatively, you can immediately refill your health bar and replenish your Health Potion flasks by resting at one of the fox shrines dotted throughout the world (also shown in the image above).
Keep in mind, however, that whenever you rest at one of these shrines, all of the enemies you’ve defeated (except for boss battles) will respawn, just like they do in a FromSoftware game like Elden Ring or Dark Souls III.
Increasing Max Health
To increase your max health bar, you’ll need to visit one of those fox shrines, press LB when stood in front of it and select the red flower item. Press A and as long as you’ve got the orange diamond-like currency that you get from killing enemies, you’ll be able to sacrifice the item and hand over the currency to level up your HP.
Each of the items in the bottom right-hand corner will increase a different one of your stats. For health specifically, you want the pink/red flower, which we’ve circled in the image above.
Finding these flowers, alongside the other stat-boosting items, is simply a case of exploring the world and opening up various treasure chests hidden away.
